    Prescott Farm

    The site of General Prescott's rural headquarters during the American Revolution, Prescott Farm preserves a typical Aquidneck Island farm of the 18th and 19 centuries. Several historic buildings and structures are located on the property, including General Prescott's Overing Farmhouse and a historic 1812 windmill. Several walking trails are also located on-site. Opening hours are 10am to 3pm, Tue to Sat from June to September. Guided tours are available.

    Witherbee School

    Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Witherbee School was rebuilt in 1907 after the original (1892) was destroyed by fire. This one-classroom building features a bell tower with the original school bell. Witherbee School was in operation until the 1940s, and today serves as an interpretive center on the history of education in Middletown. The building is located on the northeast corner of Valley Road and Green End Avenue.

    Boyd's Wind Grist Mill

    Boyd's Wind Grist Mill was built in 1810 and is one of the last two surviving wind mills on Aquidneck Island. The mill was originally built to grind feed for cattle, pork and poultry. It is open on Sunday afternoons, May through September, and guided tours are available.

    Whitehall Museum House

    Once home to renowned philosopher and educator, Dean George Berkeley circa 1730, the restored Whitehall Museum House now serves as a memorial to Berkeley and features furnishings of the appropriate period. Open to the public from July 1 to August 31, 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday. Guided tours are available. Off-season tours by appointment.

    Paradise School

    Built in 1875, the Paradise Schoolhouse is a prime example of 19th century architecture. This classic, one-room country school is constructed of wood and features a bell tower (with the original school bell), brick chimney and yellow painted exterior. It functioned as a school classroom until 1955, and was acquired by the Middletown Historical Society in 1976, two years before being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
