Prescott Farm More Info

The site of General Prescott's rural headquarters during the American Revolution, Prescott Farm preserves a typical Aquidneck Island farm of the 18th and 19 centuries. Several historic buildings and structures are located on the property, including General Prescott's Overing Farmhouse and a historic 1812 windmill. Several walking trails are also located on-site. Witherbee School More Info

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Witherbee School was rebuilt in 1907 after the original (1892) was destroyed by fire. This one-classroom building features a bell tower with the original school bell. Witherbee School was in operation until the 1940s, and today serves as an interpretive center on the history of education in Middletown. Paradise School More Info

Built in 1875, the Paradise Schoolhouse is a prime example of 19th century architecture. This classic, one-room country school is constructed of wood and features a bell tower (with the original school bell), brick chimney and yellow painted exterior. It functioned as a school classroom until 1955, and was acquired by the Middletown Historical Society in 1976, two years before being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Boyd's Wind Grist Mill More Info

Boyd's Wind Grist Mill was built in 1810 and is one of the last two surviving wind mills on Aquidneck Island. The mill was originally built to grind feed for cattle, pork and poultry.
